On September 22, 2013 at about 4:10 p.m., a tourist visiting from California had left her purse on the shore of Waikiki Beach while she went swimming. When she later came to shore, she discovered that her purse had been stolen. While reporting the incident to police, she received an alert from her credit card company that someone was trying use her credit card at a store in Waikiki. The complainant and police went to the store at which time they observed a female in the store carrying the complainant’s purse. The female, who was later identified as Aimee Gagnon, was subsequently placed under arrest for Theft in the Second Degree, Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Unauthorized Possession of Confidential Personal Information, Attempted Theft in the Second Degree, Credit Card Theft and Identity Theft in the Second Degree.
Gagnon has 7 prior convictions and is known to frequent the Honolulu area.
